We're thrilled to introduce a new volunteer opportunity in partnership with the City's Economic Development Division at the Deerfield Beach Pier Welcome Center. Join us as we celebrate the Grand Opening and help welcome residents and visitors to this exciting new destination!

ONGOING OPPORTUNITY!

Shifts -   The Visitor Welcome Center will be open from Tuesday - Sunday from 10am - 6pm. We are looking for two volunteers per day. The volunteers could work minium of 4 hour shifts. The schedule will be flexible. 10am- 2pm and/or 2pm-6pm.

Dress code - business casual, we can provide DFB- branded collar shirts.

AGE- 18 and Up. Community Hours can be provided for students who need the hours for school. 

Duties - The main responsibility will be answering incoming questions from local residents and tourists who visit and providing printed materials for guidance. 

Volunteer Opportunity: Front Desk / Reception Support

The Braithwaite Center for Active Aging is seeking a friendly and dependable volunteer to assist with front desk and receptionist duties. This role helps provide a welcoming experience for seniors, visitors, and community members.

Responsibilities:

Greet and assist visitors upon arrival.

Answer phones and provide general information.

Assist with basic administrative tasks and organization.

Help direct visitors and support daily front desk operations.

Provide friendly customer service and a welcoming environment.

Qualifications:

Friendly, reliable, and professional demeanor.

Good communication and customer service skills.

Comfortable assisting seniors and community members.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The Braithwaite Center for Active Aging is seeking a volunteer Mahjong instructor to teach seniors the basics of American Mahjong in a fun, welcoming, and supportive environment.

Responsibilities:

Lead weekly beginner Mahjong classes.

Teach game rules, strategies, and etiquette.

Encourage social interaction and participant engagement.

Create an enjoyable learning experience for older adults.

Qualifications:

Experience playing and teaching American Mahjong.

Friendly, patient, and dependable with excellent communication skills.

Passion for working with older adults.

Join us for some fun while hanging with our "Golden Bucks" Seniors. They love to play their bingo, dominoes, and enjoy having some special entertainment. We need Bingo assistance to play with Seniors that may need some help to play or to understand the game. 

If you would like to volunteer as a single volunteer to assist Seniors play or if you are a group to call Bingo or to entertain, feel free to sign up to Volunteer!

The Lunch Distribution Assistant supports the daily distribution of meals to Senior Center members. Responsibilities include organizing meals/ drinks, ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are followed, assisting with serving, maintaining cleanliness in the distribution area, and providing friendly and efficient service. Strong communication, teamwork, and attention to detail

Food Safety Certificate Preferred 

The Café Assistant supports daily café operations, including preparing the café area. Serving snacks and beverages, maintaining cleanliness, restocking supplies, and providing friendly customer service. Responsibilities also include operating the cash register and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all customers. Strong communication, teamwork, and attention to detail are essential.

Food Serve Certified is welcomed

Volunteer needed to assist recreation staff with program setup, breakdown, and daily operations.

Days & Times are Flexible depending on the program or task that will be assigned. 

· Facilitate recreational activities and support program participants

· Delivered customer service by answering questions and assisting community members.

· Provided general support to staff to ensure successful program execution

We’re gearing up for a major event on the beach from August 20–22 (setup beginning August 18th) called the Firefighter Challenge. It’s an incredible, high‑energy experience that showcases the strength, skill, and dedication of our first responders and we’ll need a strong volunteer team to help make it happen!

The event features a challenging course where firefighters compete for bragging rights, with spectators cheering them on throughout the weekend. The biggest highlight is Saturday morning’s main competition, often called “the toughest two minutes in sports,” where top competitors from all divisions go head‑to‑head for the title.

We're looking for able-bodied volunteers to help set up and reset the course. Please note that some tasks will involve lifting and moving equipment. These positions are only open to able-bodied individuals. Only individuals that are physically prepared to assume these roles should apply. All duties are repetitive, meaning performed 50+ per times a day, and require upper body, arm, and lower back strength. This volunteer opportunity is not recommended for those who are pregnant, with heart conditions, with serious back problems, with fear of heights, or have other health problems.

Welcomes clients, families, and visitors with a warm and professional demeanor. Assists with check-in, answers basic questions, and helps maintain a safe, friendly, and organized environment. Provides support to staff by directing guests and ensuring a positive first impression of the center.

We are looking for caring and compassionate volunteers to serve as Senior Companions. Volunteers will spend time engaging with seniors through conversation, games, activities, and companionship. Some residents may benefit from translation assistance or extra support with communication. This is a great opportunity to make a meaningful connection and brighten someone’s day.

We’re looking for a dancer, a duo or a group of dancers (any genre — ballet, contemporary, Latin, cultural, etc.) who would be open to volunteering 20–30 minutes of performance and light engagement.

It’s a beautiful opportunity to bring movement, joy, and connection to an audience that truly appreciates live art.

We are seeking volunteers to assist seniors with engagement and activities. Some residents may benefit from translation support or extra help with communication and social interaction. Volunteers will help create a welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable experience for our seniors.
